Groningen Earthquakes, village on dwelling mount (terp, wierde), Spijk, Groningen, the Netherlands

Spijk was bordered along the sea until 1718 and was protected from flood by building an artificial mound, a so called terp or wierde. The church was traditional build on the highest point of the terp.
